Professor Augusto Zimmermann was born in Brazil, and completed his Bachelor of Law (LLB) and Master of Law (LLM) ast the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro. In January 2002, he emigrated to Australia, completing a PhD in Legal Philosophy at Monash University in 2006. In 2007, Dr Zimmermann was invited to join the School of Law at Murdoch University, serving as Lecturer (2007-2011), Senior Lecturer (2011-2017), Director of Postgraduate Research (2011-2012 and 2015-2017) and Associate Dean, Research (2010-2012). During his time at Murdoch University, Dr Zimmermann was awarded Murdoch University's 2012 Vice Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Research, and two School Dean's Research Awards, in 2010 and 2011. He has also received the 2013 Law Lecturer of the Year Award from the Murdoch Student Law Society (MSLS), in recognition of the outstanding level of teaching, service and personal contribution he provided to the students of Murdoch Law School.

Professor Zimmermann is an internationally known legal scholar, a prolific writer and author of numerous articles and academic books, and is broadly recognised as one of the nation's strongest proponents of free speech. He is a Former Law Reform Commissioner with the Law Reform Commission of Western Australia (2012-2017), and a former Vice-President of the Australian Society of Legal Philosophy (ASLP). Dr Zimmermann is also the Founder and President of the Western Australian Legal Theory Association (WALTA), Editor-in-Chief of the Western Australian Jurist law journal, and a Fellow at the International Academy for the Study of the Jursisprudence of the Family (IASJF). Dr Zimmermann has been included, together with only twelve other Australian academics and policy experts, in "Policy Experts" - the Heritage Foundation's directory for locating knowledgeable authorities and leading policy institutes actively involved in a broad range of public policy issues, both in the United States and worldwide.

18/7 Aberdeen St, Perth, in the Piccadilly Square West building.

For students, it conveniently places Sheridan College next door to McIver Train Station and a 9-minute walk from Perth Train Station. 10 parking bays will also be available for the exclusive use of staff and students, and the Aberdeen St entrance to the Newcastle St Carpark is across the road.
