Biography

Dr Jason Coughran completed his Bachelor of Applied Science (Honours) in Ecology in 2001 at Southern Cross University (SCU), a PhD in Biology at SCU in 2006, and a Master of Divinity at Trinity Theological College in 2018. He has 15 years of experience in taxonomy, biology, ecology, conservation and management of aquatic biota, and has served in a diverse range of environmental consultancy, research and academic positions, including teaching Aquaculture Management, Fisheries Biology, Wetland Ecosystems and Sustainable Water Resource Management at Southern Cross University and Edith Cowan University, and supervising undergraduate student research projects.

Dr Coughran is the author or co-author of over 80 scientific books, book chapters, professional technical reports, refereed journal articles, conference papers and general articles. His work has yielded important developments in taxonomy, biology and conservation, including the discovery and formal description of more than a dozen species new to science, and conservation assessments of more than 50 species for the IUCN Red List of Threatened Species. He is a Board Member of the International Association of Astacology, an Editoral Board Member of Freshwater Crayfish, and an International Advisory Board Member of Crustacean Research. Dr Coughran also lectures in Christian Studies at Sheridan College and serves as the pastor of Horizon Church in Kingsley, WA.

Biography

Dr Ooi was born in Malaysia and completed his Bachelor and Master degrees in science at University Putra Malaysia. Dr Ooi received a scholarship from British Steel UK for his doctoral studies, and was granted his PhD from the University of Sheffield in 2006. Dr Ooi has substantial industry experience in environmental chemistry, energy and new products development, specifically steel-manufacturing raw materials. He was initially employed by British Steel as a researcher in environmental chemistry and iron and steel manufacturing for 4 years. In 2009, Dr Ooi was appointed by the CSIRO as a Research Projects Leader, where he worked for 2 years, then was employed by Fortescue Metals Group as a Senior Products specialist for 5 years. He is currently Senior Product Development Specialist at Australian Premium Iron Ore, and Lecturer and Sheridan College. Dr Ooi is a member of AusIMM Dr Ooi has published a number of academic articles during his time in industry. While his primary research focus is iron ore products development, and he is currently pursuing research in artificial photosynthesis at Sheridan College.

Biography

Mr Peter Ho was born in Hong Kong and moved to Australia in 1999. He completed his Bachelor of Business (major in Accounting) at Edith Cowan University in 2003, and a Masters of Science in Actuarial and Financial Science in 2010. Peter Ho worked for FESCO in Hong Kong for several years before being appointed to a ministry position at Perth Alliance Church in 2011. In 2012, he completed a Graduate Diploma of Education at Edith Cowan University, with a major in Secondary Mathematics teaching and a minor in Computing. In 2013, Peter Ho began working as a sessional academic in Mathematics at Curtin University, tutoring first year Mathematics classes.
