MBA (in development)

Master of Business Administration (in development)

The College does not yet deliver an accredited Masters of Business Administration (MBA) program in the School of Business.

This page instead provides a progress update on the course design process.

Proposed Course Rationale

Sheridan College’s MBA program will provide postgraduate education in business administration grounded in the Christian ethical framework. The first-year program will cover several core areas of responsibility for managers from a strategic, decision-making perspective. In the second year, students will  be able to select from a growing range of electives that allow them to explore specific areas of management, including not-for-profit (NFP) management.

The NFP sector has much to contribute to the study of business administration, including the importance of a social vision for economic activity, and working to multiple bottom lines. Sheridan College’s specialist not-for-profit graduates will be well-equipped to serve in the large and growing global not-for-profit sector.

The course is anchored by a research project which will provide an opportunity for students to integrate their knowledge through applied research in their workplace. All units are underpinned by a critical evaluation of the prevailing theoretical frameworks for studying business administration, and an examination of Christian perspectives which uphold the dignity of human beings and our social responsibilities to one another.

Development Update

  • The MBA was submitted to the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TEQSA) for accreditation in 2013. In 2014, TEQSA recommended a series of changes to improve the course before it is resubmitted.
  • After completing the development of its undergraduate business program in 2016, the Faculty of Business began work again on the MBA program.
  • The MBA was resubmitted to TEQSA for Preliminary Assessment in November 2016.

The MBA program will have a Standard stream and a Not-For-Profit Management specialisation.
